Weiss’ weekly menu of specials also allows him the creative latitude that keeps regulars coming back for more. The restaurant’s wine list, from the Wme Spectator Award- winning list at Greenville’s Beef Bam, offers a combination of the best variety and best values in the area. “Even though we have what I think is the nicest atmosphere in town and proba bly the best food, because it’s a big his toric mansion, I think it intimidates some people,” said owner Gene Simon. Simon, who said he hopes to change that perception, stressed that casual attire is more than welcome. The Harvey Mansion’s six dining rooms on the first two floors can comfortably seat up to 110 people, or accommodate parties of six to 28. The Harvey family’s ornately detailed formal parlor on the second floor, known as the Green Room, can accommodate parties of up to 28. The 1797 Steamer Bar and Lounge, located in the cellar, offers live local entertainment on weekends and a selec tion of steamed seafood and snacks in a relaxed atmosphere. The lounge’s sum mer line-up of entertainment is expected to include jazz and acoustical performers on alternate weekends. Reservations are suggested.
