February BOC Meeting By Yvette Bannen It was noted that there is an ongoing discussion about hiring another firefighter to meet ISO regulations. There is no money in the budget for this, but funding is being explored. The 933 beach nourishment and FEMA sand replacement projects are going well. The town's request for one large beach access instead of five accesses at half-mile intervals has been denied by the Corps of Engineers. This will be appealed. Ray Cox of Highfill Infrastructure Engineering has been hired to conduct a wastewater system feasibility study for $15,000. Harold Green has been appointed as an alternate to the Community Appearance Committee to fill an opening until September 2007. Betty Carr was appointed as the budget officer for the remainder of the fiscal year. Replacement of the cable for the telemetry system for one of the water tanks was approved. The cost for doing the second tank is being investigated. Three new appointments were made to the Recreation Advisory Committee: Jody Isakson (1 year), Joe Murphy and Bill Steenland (2 years). Two of the seven members represent Beacon's Reach. During the citizen comments period a question was raised about how much money has been collected during the past year from fines levied for ordinance violations and there was no response. Earlier, it was mentioned that no fines were collected for the month of January.
