Betty J. Carr was given an outstanding administrative personnel award by Lowell Gunther of the NC Rural Water Association. Next was a certificate of appreciation from the town to Bruce Flynt in recognition of his 14 years of service in the fire department. See related information in the Emergency Services report. Then, the mayor proclaimed "Terri Sweeney Day" and read a certificate of appreciation for her work with beach preservation, starting with PKS and later with all of Bogue Banks. The mayor also presented her with a bouquet of roses. Pat McNeese, the conservation and research coordinator at the aquarium, spoke about her new position doing conservation projects, both at the aquarium and in the community. The survey for the recreational advisory committee has been distributed in The Shoreline and it will be greatly appreciated if citizens take the time to complete and return it. The results will be reviewed by the committee and made public. A resolution was approved to start the process of getting in line for DOT projects in order to have the Mimosa Boulevard bridge replaced. The process is lengthy but the bridge is safe in the meantime. It was noted that Bill Brophy has "moved on" and the town is looking for a replacement in the public works department. There was discussion at the morning and afternoon sessions about the static line of vegetation on the beach but no decision was made.
