Over Memorial Day weekend, Gail and John Halada took their first long drive to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for their son's wedding. The drive took a total 20 hours, but it was worth every minute as the scenery from state to state was uniquely beautiful. Arriving in Milwaukee on Thursday, they discovered a warm and welcoming city. Jeffrey Halada and Tina Gemore were married on May 26,2007 at 2:00 pm at Holy Apostles Church in New Berlin, Wisconsin. This latest revolution involves installing rows of iron stanchions every 300 yards along the streets of the city to house bicycles that will hopefully reduce the pollution caused by motor vehicle exhaust. The stanchions contain electronic heads that will release a bicycle by inserting a credit card or a city issued negotiable plastic. The stanchions number 750 and can contain 10,000 bicycles. By the year's end the city will double the number of stanchions and double the number of sf * >t- >f- Sf- Beacon's Reach resident Starling Serafin celebrated his 80 birthday at the Westbury Manor in Westbury, Long Island, New York on July 3 with friends and family totaling 107 guests. Jeff and Tina first met each other through www.harmony.com and ever since their first date they have been inseparable. Jeff proposed to Tina in Greece on September 25 (which was, by the way, his Mom's birthday) where Tina was giving a presentation speech in her area of expertise. The system will make available cards that are good for an unlimited number of rides. The inserted card will unlock the bicycle and get 30 minutes of free use before returning the bike to a station near your destination. The subsequent half hour periods are extremely inexpensive so that most Parisians can afford this novel transportation system. One of our local residents has copied the idea and can be seen around town on an electric powered three-wheel scooter. St St- sf. sf. Sf. Center. The evening raised in excess of $11,000 contributed by the evening's guests. The funds are to go to a scholarship that has been set-up at Cary High School in Franklin Square, Long Island, the school where fireman Evans graduated. Michael and Loretta Poremba and Carol Dappio, Loretta's sister from New Brunswick, New Jersey traveled on a 16-day bus tour to the United Kingdom, visiting England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland. The highlight for Michael was the architecture of the cathedrals, churches and abbeys, some dating back as far as the I200's. For Loretta it was the beauty of Edinburgh and the Scottish highlands as well as the English countryside and Lake District. Sister Carol relished the idea of having a picture taken at Penny Lane in Liverpool, immortalized by the Beatles. The tour included visits to Stonehenge, the Blarney Stone kissing ritual, and viewing the Crown jewels of England and Scotland. Both the tour director and the bus driver were special people who made the trip even more enjoyable. The couple tells us that despite wet weather they enjoyed themselves, and met some very nice people and formed new friendships which helped make their visit to the U.K. a memorable and happy time.
