The dances will be English and Scottish Country Dances from the entire colonial era, covering 1584 to 1785. All the dances will be taught: no prior experience is required, and you don't need to bring a partner. A beginner's lesson will be offered at 7:00 p.m., and the dancing starts at 7:30. Instruction and dance prompting will be provided by Simon Spalding, who will perform on the violin. The music will be accompanied by harpsichord and additional instruments. Dancers are encouraged to come in clothing of the Elizabethan, Colonial, or other historical periods; but of course this is not required. Where; Fellowship Hall of Centenary United Methodist Church, on New Street between Craven and Middle Streets. Admission price: $7 per person, $5 for full-time students.
