Choose from fresh vegetables, local seafood, cut flowers, and a-mul titude of baked goods. Crystal Cape Lookout National Seashore Interpretive Programs and Activities Interpretive activities are presented by park rangers from Memorial Day weekend through September 30th. These include a wide range of history, natural resource, and recreational programs. Programs include Horse Watching, Habitat Hike, Lighthouse Lore, Storm Stories, Fishing with the Coast Keeper, Barrier Island Ecology, Tidal Flat Explora tion and a Cape Truck Tour with a Ranger. Some programs occur each week, some scheduled programs are repeated and require reservations. Day classes range from boat models and mariners, fishing fossils, kayak ing, maritime archaeology, mystery and history, pirates, and seashore. NC Maritime Museum. Junior Sailing Program The Junior Sailing Program of the NC Maritime Museum, Beaufort, teaches seamanship, navigation, boating safety, and sailing techniques to beginning and intermediate sail ors ages 8 and older. Students sail International Optimist Dinghies or Vanguards during the two-week sessions and final Regatta. Fort Macon State Park Summer Show, Carteret County Arts & Crafts Coalition July 2-3 Juried show and sale of arts and crafts of coastal artisans is held Saturday and Sun day July 02-03 on the Beaufort Historic Site, downtown Beaufort. Fort Macon Civil War Reenactment July 9-10 The event features civil war period activities pefformed throughout'the day. Talks on flags, uniforms, and Civil War dress are held, as well as musket firings and drills. Free to the public. Fort Macon State Park Historic Beaufort Road Race July 16 Nearly 800 runners compete annually in numerous categories available in this road race by the sea. Early morning starts on downtown Front Street. Running events in clude l-mile,5K, lOK, wheelchair and health walks.
