i i i i gr W \ Senior Tapping Talents By Barbara Milhaven Perhaps you took dancing lessons of one kind or another as a youth. Perhaps you always wanted to take dancing lessons but never had the opportunity. Now is your opportunity! You can join the senior tap pers, tapping away at the Carteret County Parks and Recreation Center located at 1600 Fisher Street in Morehead City. This group meets weekly under the able direction of Hazel Collins. A visit to one of Hazels tap dancing classes gave Shoreline photographer Dan Law and I an inside look at the effort and concentration of the senior students, some with previous dance experience and some none. Impressive was Hazel’s dedication to each student to insure that all class members comprehended and were performing correctly the basics of each step, including body and arm movements. It seems like work, and it is, but it is also fun and great exercise as well. Dance Director Hazel CoUins has had extensive ex perience teaching dancers of all ages. In addition to teaching this senior tap dancing class, which is offered at a nominal fee to people 50 years of age and over. Hazel currently teaches dance at the Dance Arts Stu dio in Morehead City. Peace of Mind for Uncertain Times Country Club News By Joan Lamson The big news at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast this month is that “IT” is finally here—and open! The club inaugurated the new putting green in August with a 9-Hole Putting Contest. All members were invited to join in the fun and to bring their luck with them. Winning first prize of a $100 gift certificate was long-time Pine Knoll Shores’ resident Rusty Meyers. There were five ties for second place, with Pine Knoll Shores’ folks bringing in three of them - Lib Peele, Glenn Mills, and Dale Bernhardt. The other two were non-residents, Jeff Tolbert and Leroy Everhart. Come on in and try it for yourself. It is FREE to all residents of Pine Knoll Shores only for the month of September. Just check in with the Pro-Shop, pick up the informa tion on Country Club memberships, and you can use the new putting green. For more information, call 726-1034, ext. 10.
