Connect with Your Neighbors!
The PIKSCO Board of Directors has recently set up an online account with
Nextdoor.com, a private social network for communities and neighbors. The site
allows a private group to be created, based on addresses within a geographic area,
and ours is limited to the members of PIKSCO. This site will be a great way to post
information about events in the neighborhood, association news, baby sitter rec
ommendations, questions related to the neighborhood, etc. This site will function
like a private Facebook for PIKSCO members only. The possibilities are endless.
Please join this new group by visiting http://piksco.nextdoor.com. You will be
guided through a registration process and can begin connecting with neighbors in
just a few moments. The goal of the PIKSCO board is to help bring our community
closer together, and we feel a tool like Nextdoor.com will be another great resource
for our neighborhood.
The PIKSCO board has many great projects and initiatives planned this year,
and we would love to hear any ideas, comments and feedback. Attend the next
board meeting, scheduled for February 17 at 5:30 p.m. at town hall Don’t forget to

The cards are on sale for $20 and may be purchased at town hall during the week
and are sold at the Public Safety Building on the weekends. They certainly pay for
themselves.
The PARC calendar for the year has been established:
• February—Organization/sign-up for Carteret County Senior Games
• April—Easter Egg Hunt at Garner Park, April 19 at 10 a.m.; Carteret County
Senior Games begin; Pine Knoll Shores hosts Carteret County Senior Games
bike races, April (tbd), 9 a.m.
• May—Carteret County Senior Games continue/conclude
• June—Kayak for the Warriors events (various venues): June 5: Pine Knoll
Shores homes tour. Warriors reception and live auction at the aquarium;
June 7: Warriors bike ride, kayak/paddleboard races, picnic and raffle
• July—Independence Day parade at Garner Park, July 4 at 10 a.m.; Clean
Beach Sweep at Iron Steamer, July 7 at 9 a.m.
• August—National Night Out
• October—Pine Knoll Shores annual Community Yard Sale and Fall Festival,
October 4; Hope for Warriors Angel Tree, ongoing
• November—Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot at McNeill Park, November 27
at 9 a.m.; Pine Knoll Shores Christmas Flotilla, November 29 (boats pass
McNeill Park at 5:15 p.m.)
• December—Pine Knoll Shores Christmas Parade, Oakleaf Drive, December
6 at 10 a.m..
We need folks to chair the Easter Egg Hunt, Clean Beach Sweep, Christmas
Flotilla and the Christmas Parade. Please consider volunteering.
We are still looking for people to fill vacancies on this committee. Please email
Brian Kramer (manager@townofpks.com) if you are interested in chairing an event
or being on the committee.
