Happenings in March
The Bogue Banks Public Library will be closed on Monday, March 28, for the
Carteret County Public Libraries staff training meeting.
Book Sale. In April the spring book sale, sponsored by Friends of Bogue Banks
Public Library, will be held at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church in Atlantic
Beach. Be on the lookout.
Also, stop by the Book Trade to see what’s available.
Activities for Children. Preschool Storytime is held each Thursday at 10 a.m.
with Ms. Brita.
Featured Artwork. In March, the art gallery will feature the natural photography
of Beaufort resident Miriam Sutton. Miriam is a middle school science teacher in
Carteret County, and when she isn’t in the classroom, she can usually be found in
her kayak or on her SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard), paddling the waters of North
Carolina’s Crystal Coast. Her company, DolphinMoonKayak, began as a kayak
guide service in 1999, when Miriam began sharing her love of paddling with sum
mer visitors to the area. In 2007, she transformed her paddling interest into nature
photography. This tranquil mode of transportation affords a unique perspective of
the landscape and wildlife of this treasured ecosystem. Miriam has taken full ad
vantage of her opportunities on the water, and her efforts have been rewarded with
beautiful water views of this pristine region.
The display cases will feature a collection of teapots and china, which have been
lent to us by Donna Freeman, our librarian.
Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, March 14, from 3-4 p.m.
