Pine Knoll Shores resident Mary Kanyha (left) was in her favorite reading spot on the sittum at Ocean Park in late May when Kelly Moeller and David Pezley arrived to take pictures by the ocean prior to their wedding at The Country Club of the Crystal Coast. Assured that she wasn’t “in the way,” Mary continued to read—and learned later that she ended up in several of the photos. A bit of serendipity: Mary and Kelly’s grandparents. Robert and Dorothy Herbst, were in the same social group back when that’s how residents got to know each other. Please submit your high resolution pictures to shoreline@townofpks.com by Friday, September 11, and include children’s names, grade, school, photographer’s name and any other information you would like to share. Kids love to see their picture in the paper, and so do we.—The Editors Pine Knoll Shores resident Tom King (left) recently made a hole-in-one on the 15th hole at The Country Club of the Crystal Coast. After playing three sets of tennis in the morning, he decided to join Steve Dunlap and his daughter Allison for a round of golf. As Tom tells it, his golf game wasn’t going well, but he says that he likes the philosophy shared by a friend years ago; it’s better to be lucky than good. Tom attributes the hole-in-one to pure luck, noting that not only is it the first one he’s ever achieved, it’s the first one he’s ever seen in person.
