Submission of four sidewalk segments to NCDOT for funding. Late last year we submitted four segments to NCDOT for funding in their state-wide grant process. We will know where we stand competitively in the March-April time frame. As a reminder, the four segments are: • The red light west to the Clamdigger, north side of the road • The red light north to Roosevelt Boulevard, west side of the road, then west to the aquarium, north side of the road • From Roosevelt Boulevard north to town hall, west side of the road • From Mimosa Boulevard to Arborvitae on Salter Path Road, north side of the road Deck safety. As mentioned last month, we will soon send letters to all oceanfront homeowners to relay information on deck safety following last year’s Collapses. Of interest in this area is something our building inspector came across. The two bolts below are both 5/8-inch hot dipped galvanized through- Bolts used for oceanfront decking. The rusted bolt was once the same size as the larger one. The rusted bolt is 12 years old, and the intact bolt is 18-20 years old.
