The town came up with some seed money and, thanks to the efforts of a large crew of volunteers, we now have four pickleball courts in town: three behind town hall arid one at Garner Park. Experienced and novice players are welcome to join in the fun, which usually begins around 9 a.m. on Saturday and sometimes on Sunday. Come alone or bring a partner; teams are made up on the spot. There are two loaner paddles in the deck box available for first-time players, but it is advisable to bring your own paddle if you have one. This is also a good time to come and watch to learn what pickleball is all about. Pickleball tournament. Pine Knoll Shores is hosting its first Recreational and Fun Pickleball Tournament at the three pickleball courts behind town hall on September 24 at 9 a.m. (rain date: September 25). Space is limited and advance registration is required. A partner is not necessary as partnerships for mixed doubles play will be chosen by blind draw.
