Project benefits the children of our warriors
The Pine ICnoll Shores Parks and Recreation Committee (PARC) anticipates
receiving information from Hope For The Warriors on children of 20 warrior
families, including ages, clothing sizes and toy and other gift preferences by the
first week of November. The professional staff" of Hope For The Warriors will vet
each family on a needs basis. A display at town hall will include a spreadsheet with
information on the families as well as an angel number assigned to each family. We
do not have children’s last names as this information remains anonymous.
If you wish to be a warrior’s angel, please come to town hall and select your fami
ly. Duplicate forms will be available for each family with information about the chil
dren—one for sponsors to take and one to complete and leave in a box provided by
PKS Blue Star
All residents of Pine Knoll Shores are , -
invited to the dedication of the Blue Star - ' ' ' ' ,
Memorial as noted here. We apologize ■
for the inadvertent oversight if any vet
erans were missed in the recent mailing
from the Garden Club.
What is a Blue Star Memorial
Marker? The Blue Star Memorial Pro
gram began at the close of WWII when
the Garden Club of New Jersey dedicat
ed a memorial to honor veterans of the
war. The program has been expanded to
include all men and women who have
served, are serving or will serve in the
Armed Forces of the United States.
Markers can be found on highways,
byways and in civic locations throughout the country. The marker shown here is
located in Emerald Isle and is similar to the marker to be dedicated in Pine Knoll
Shores in November.
Please arrive at town hall no later than 10 a.m. to take a shuttle to the dedication
site. Also, to facilitate traffic flow, please use Arborvitae Drive to reach town hall.
Tax deductible contributions to help with expenses associated with the Blue
Star Memorial may be made to the Pine Knoll Shores Garden Club, 100 Municipal
Circle, Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512.—Photo by Susan King
