(PKA), a North Carolina nonprofit corporation, is celebrating its 50th year. We hold our annual meetings in June, the beginning of our fiscal year. Our Articles of Incorporation establish the PKA Homeowners Association (HOA), a robust organization that is still going strong. Here’s to many more good years and annual meetings. Following is a synopsis of the provisions of the Articles of Incorporation: Article 1. The name of the corporation is Pine Knoll Association. Article 2. The period of existence shall be perpetual. Article 3. The purposes for the Association are: (a) establish and enforce terms of restrictive covenants; (b) own, acquire, build, maintain, operate and protect common properties; (c) fix and collect dues and assessments; (d) pay taxes; (e) promote the common benefit and enjoyment of the residents of the properties. Article 4. Association membership is comprised of the owners of properties as defined in the restrictive covenants. Article 5. Affairs shall be conducted by the Board of Directors, which is elected by the membership to three-year terms. Article 6. Additions to the properties may only be made in accordance with the recorded covenants and restrictions. Article 7. No fees, bonuses, commissions, or any other payments shall be made to or inure to the benefit of any officer, director, or member of the Association. Article 8. Provides the official address of the Association and registered agent. Article 9. The number of directors constituting the Board is nine. Article 10. The Association shall have full power and authority to engage in activity, accept property, or invest or accumulate income with certain IRS and other restrictions. Article 11. Articles maybe amended in accordance with law, provided voting requirements are met and any changes will not impair or dilute any rights of existing members and properties. We have a very successful legacy of 50 years of representing and supporting hundreds of families and members. We are now looking forward to another 50 years of PKA and doing aU the things we do for our members and our common properties.
