MILL Issued Every Two Weeks By and For the Employees WHISTLE MARSHALL FIELD & COMPANY, INC, Manufacturing Division, Spray, North Carolina Volume Three Attention Relatives Of Service Men and Women You have been informed that the com pany is getting out a booklet in which it is planned to have pictures and service records of all men and women who have gone into military service. The company is anxious to include every man and woman who have gone into service in this booklet. This includes, of course, all men and women from the company who have participated in World War II and who may, or may not, now be working for the Company. The company, however, does not have pictures and it is up to you relatives and friends to furnish the picture if you want your son, daughter, sweetheart, or friend’s picture and record included in this booklet—which will be one of the ^things every service man and woman "will treasure when they return home. If any picture is left out it will be only because you have failed to send in the picture. The company has made every effort to secure pictures of all of our people in service but without your co operation we will necessarily miss some. The deadline for sending in pictures is July 2, 1945. Please" send in the pic ture of your service man or woman right now so it will be here beforethe dead line. Send them to J. A. Woolen Mill Receives Third Star At a brief ceremony held in the yard of the Woolen mill on June 6th that mill was awarded its third Army-Navy “E” star for excellence in production of ma terial for the armed forces. R. H. Tuttle was in charge of the pro gram which opened with a prayer by Rev. W. J. Gordon. Luther H. Hodges, vice-president and general manager of kthe Manufacturing Dvision made a brief 'inspiring talk and was followed by Ma jor Frank Cook, of the Quartermaster Corps, Charlotte. Major Cook presented the “E” flag, with three stars, to Supt. H. L. Leavitt, of the Woolen mill. Rus sell Hunter accepted the flag on behalf Monday, June 18, 1945 Number Twenty-Five of the employees, and Major Kelly Tray- nham, of Charlotte, pinned the Army- Navy pin on Hunter. Harold Griffith, Director of the Bi- County Joint Board T.W.U.A., made an interesting talk and the program closed with the national anthem. The Woolen mill’s splendid record be gan on August 18, 1943, when it was awarded the Army-Navy “E” flag. This was followed by a star which was awarded on March 11, 1944. The second star was received on October 14, 1944, and the third star was awarded on May 26, 1945. Congratulations of all employees are extended to the workers and manage ment of the Woolen mill for their fine record of producing excellent material and skill and faithfulness to their work. Safety Picture To Be Shown Every employee of the company will be handed a printed card by their fore man, this card being an invitation to view the film WOVEN WITH SAFETY, which was made in the mills of the Manufacturing Division. This is the first lime that a safety picture with a textile background has been produced and the people taking part in the picture are well known to most of the employees. This is a pic ture every person in the community will enjoy seeing. A prize will be given at each showing. The showings will be as follows: Draper—Fieldcrest Theatre, June 19. Spray—Central Y.M.C.A., June 20. North Spray Y.M.C.A., June 21 Leaksville—Colonial Theatre, June 26. Fieldale—Fieldale Theatre, June 27.
