August 4, 1947 FIELDCREST Mi ILL WHISTLE Page Five Lunchtime Horseshoe Matches Attract Bedspread And Karastan Employees Horserhces and park benches placed on the vacant lot opposite the gatehouse at the Leaksviils mills are proving popular with Karastan and Bedspread people. There are lively contests at lunch time and when changes of shifts are made. Many of the emplcyees use the benches for a place to just sit and smoke and relax. Leaksville Personnel is responsible for the arrange ments. A tournament to determine the best horseshoe team in each mill is planned, followed by a championship match between the Bedspread and Karastan. Stultz) Finishirg and Carving: Everyone is looking forward to that big horseshoe match between Morris Turner and Leslie Oakley at the horse shoe grounds opposite the mill gate. Our best wishes to all those Karastan girls (eight in all!) who chose vaca tion time for their honeymoons. Jannie McCullouch and Myrtle Sands are on the sick list. We wish them a .speedy recovery. M. B. Parks, of Elkin, has been visit ing his brother, T. E. Parks, on the Ridgeway Pood. Mrs. Morgan Hincon, of Cambridge, Ohio, is visiting her sisters, Mesdames Willie Wilmoth, Robert Wilmoth, Allen Rumbley, of Leaksville; and Mrs. Leon ard Earles, cf North Spray. Henry Burgess is planning to enter the veterans’ hospital at Roanoke, Va., soon. We extend our sympathy to Frances Watson, Setting Department Clerk, whose husband died unexpectedly dur ing last week. \ Family Reunion The K. H. Wilmoth family reunion was held Sunday, July 6, and a picnic dinner enjoyed in the yard of the homo. All of the nine children of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmoth were present with the exception of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Bran- nock and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Adams, of Oak Ridge, Tenn. Fifteen grandchil dren were present for the occasion. Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. J. Johnson, of Knox ville, Tenn., announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter. Dorothy, to Ralph Wilmoth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kelley Wilmcth, of Leaksville. The wedding is to take place in early September. Miss Johnson, who has been the house guest of Mrs. Wilmoth, was honored at a miscellaneous shower Thursday even ing, Julv 24, at which she received many lovely gifts. A delicious ice course was served by Mrs. Wilmoth, assisted by Mrs. Charlie Ross, joint hostess, and sister of the bridegrorm-to-be. TEXTILE STUDENTS VISIT:—Textile school senisrs from State College, Raleigh, are shown above watching Herbert Pratt perform a test in the Quality Control and Research Laboratory. The students visited the Karastan and Woolen Mills July 22.
