Congratulations!
Hughston M. McBain, president ol
Marshall Field & Company, will receive
his pin as a member of the 25-Year-
Club when the club holds its annual
banquet at Central Y. M. C. A. Thurs
day evening, October 16.
President McBain has received the
emblems of the 25-Year Clubs at Fred
erick & Nelson and the Retail Store in
Chicago and at the meeting here will
be inducted into the Fieldcrest Mills 25-
Year Club.
President McBain began his career
with the Company in 1922 as a bill ad
juster in the Chicago Store. From 1924
to 1936 he enjoyed a wide experience
in the organization, serving successively
as secretary to the president, in the real
estate and tax departments, as general
manager of The Merchandise Mart, as
assistant to the president and assistant
treasurer, as general manager of the
Wholesale and Manufacturing Division.
He was elected vice-president on

Some Of Events Of Week-Long
Celebration Already Under
Way; Notables To Take Part
In Festivities
As the Fieldcrest Mill Whistle is de
livered by carrier boys to homes in the
Tri-Cities and Fieldale, Va. on Sunday
morning, October 12, Fieldcrest Com
munity Week is already under way. For
the first event of the celebration second
shift operators were to see a showing of
the historical pageant, “The Land of
Eden”, at the Tri-City baseball park
on Saturday evening.
The events scheduled for Sunday,
October 12, include services at the var
ious churches pointing toward com
munity relations and a broadcast of the
Fieldcrest Program from the stage of
the Grand theatre from 3 to 3:30 p. m.
on Sunday afternoon. The public is
invited to attend the broadcast. Ad
mission is free and the doors open at
2:30 p. m.
The major activity for Monday after
noon, October 13 will be the high school
student management program which
will bring dozens of boys and girls from
the high schools at Leaksville, Draper
and Fieldale, Va., to act as officials of

“Looking Ahead in Our Public
Relations,” to be held in the
Leaksville High School audi
torium October 17-19.
Those persons interested in at
tending some of the sessions are
invited to call at Personnel office
serving their mill where tickets
will be distributed as long as the
supply lasts.

Stettinius To Address
Management Conference
On Public Relations
Edward R. Stettinius, Jr., former U. S.
Secretary of State, and now rector of
the University of Virginia, will speak in
the Leaksville High School auditorium
Saturday evening October 18 as one of
the highlights of the Fieldcrest Mills
management conference on “Looking
Ahead in Our Fhiblic Relations.”
Mr. Stettinius, one of the outstanding
figures in national and international
affairs, will speak on “What Makes for
Good Public Relations?” His address will
be broadcast over Station WLOE (1490
kilocycles) at Leaksville.
Aside from serving as Secretary of
State, Mr. Stettinius was chairman of
the American delegation to the United
