MILL WHISTLE Issued every Two Weeks by and for the Em ployees of Fieldcrest Mills, Division of Marshall Field & Company, Inc., Spray, North Carolina. VOLUME SIX NUMBER EIGHT MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1947 Dr. Robert T. Hyde Joins Fieldcrest As Medical Director Dr. Robert T. Hyde joined Fieldcrest Mills Monday, October 20, as Medical Director replacing Dr. A. W. Reeser, who resigned to go into private practice in the Tri-Cities. Dr. Hyde spent most oi last week in getting acquainted and seeing the mills. Dr. Hyde came here from Morris Plains, New Jersey, where he was in private practice. Prior to that he was in industrial medicine with the air craft division of General Motors in New Jersey. He is a veteran of World War II, having been in aviation medicine in the U. S. Navy. He is a Southerner by birth, a native of Atlanta, Ga. Turkey And Ham Will Be Given Away At Cafeteria As Thanksgiving Prizes Some lucky customer at the Y.M.C.A. Fieldcrest Cafeteria will receive a 20- pound roast stuffed turkey and a baked Virginia ham ready for the table when his or her name is announced at the cafeteria at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Novem ber 23. Under the prize system recently in stituted at the cafeteria, each customer will receive a ticket which will be placed in a box. One ticket will be drawn each day and the winner will be entitled to a free meal at the cafeteria. All the daily tickets will be accumulat ed and a drawing will be made for the turkey and ham as Thanksgiving prizes. Mrs. Margaret Barnes, of Central Wage Bureau, was winner of the Field crest Thermostatic blanket given away by the cafeteria during Community Week. The winner’s name was announc ed on the Fieldcrest radio program Sun day October 19 and the blanket was delivered to Mrs. Barnes at her work the following morning. Edward Mallicoat, manager of the cafeteria, said all tickets used since the drawing, for the Thermostatic Blanket have been accumulated and will be in cluded in the drawing for the turkey and ham.
