Newnam Twins Lillian Morrison On Appalachian Trail Patsy Jane and Peggy Ann are twin daughters oi Mr. and Mrs. David New nam. The twins' are granddaughters of Webster Patterson of the Rayon Mill and great-granddaughters of W. C. Glasgow, retired Fieldcrest employee. FINISHING MILL NEWS (By Rebecca Barnard) Vacation time found our folks going places. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Robertson and Mr. and Mrs. Alton Robertson visited Mr. and Mrs. Pete Kriniskie and daugh ter at Terryville, Conn. Fawny Evans, Doris and Catherine Jefferson enjoyed a sight-seeing trip to New York City. Rivers Hundley visited her son, Tommy, at Fulton, N. Y. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Berkley and Mr. and Mrs. Drewry Bateman motored to Washington, D. C., where they were joined by H. T. Barrett for their trip to New York, Niagara Falls, and Opeka, Canada. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Atkinson and Warford Tilley visited Capt. and Mrs. Walter G. Atkinson, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Matthews in Washington, D. C. Mrs. Tilley, who had been visit ing there, accompanied the group back home. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Martin and daughter returned last week from their vacation to Washington, D. C., Ocean View and Virginia Beach, Va. Ocean View visitors were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hudgins, Mary Frances, and Freddie, and Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Hudgins; Nellie Hill and daugh ter, Marie, and Elder and Mrs. Roy Smith of Cascade; and Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Tucker. Mr. and Mrs. William Glenos spent Weds Sam K Smith Mrs. Lillian Morrison and Sam E. Smith were married July 4th at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Under wood, Stoneville Road. Elder D. B. Spangler, of Maryland, officiated in the presence of relatives and close friends, using the double ring ceremony. Since returning from their wedding trip to Washington, D. C., the couple are resid ing on the Price Road. Mrs. Smith is employed at the Finishing Mill. the week at Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Pearl Cox and daughter, Lucille, spent the week at Ocean View and Virginia Beach. Before returning home they visited Cherokee where they saw the pageant, “Unto These Hills.” Betty Ratliff, Georgia Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. J. T. McBride spent the week-end visiting Natural Bridge and other points of interest in Virginia. Minter Johnson, Opal Wilson, and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Burnette spent the week-end at Endless Caverns, Va. Mr. and Mrs. George Aheron and son, Mike, enjoyed a sight-seeing trip to Endless Caverns and to Cherry Grove, S. C. Mamie Alderman, Earl Gillespie and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Woods visited Chatta nooga, Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, and Rock City, Tenn., returning by Cherokee and Chimney Rock. Mr. and Mrs. Dock Burris attended the John Wesley camp meeting at High Point. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Matthews and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ferguson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Ferguson and Avis Ferguson enjoyed a reunion picnic at Reynolds Park, Winston-Salem, with Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Ferguson. Mr. and Mrs'. C. B. Rakestraw and Mr. and Mrs. Will Patterson motored to Rocky Knob, Hillville, Mt. Airy and back by Hanging Rock state park for a picnic supper on July 4th. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Fulcher and Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Moore and daughter spent a few days at Nags Head. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Land and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lunsford vacationed at Carolina Beach and Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McCollum spent the week at Carolina Beach. Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Suttenfield and daughter, Harriet, spent the week at Crescent Beach, S. C. Elma Crews' visited her mother, Mrs. Jennie Owens, in Atlanta, Ga. Wade Shorter visited Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Lea in Atlanta, Ga. He was ac companied by his granddaughter, Jer- itta Lea, who had been visiting here. Dewey DeHart and son, Sherman, motored to Jacksonville and St. Augus tine, Florida, where they visited many interesting places. iK HELP DONNIE RODGERS! Members of Boy Scout Troop 8 spon sored by Leaksville- Spray Lions Club and Leaksville Methodist Church recently en joyed a two-day hike along the Appalachi an Trail above Stu art, Va. All of the scouts' were second class or above. They spent two nights on the trail, sleeping in tents and cooking their meals out of doors. Young Daniel Boone above is Bob Wilkerson, of the Engineering De partment, Troop 8 Scoutmaster and leader of the hiking party. Boyte Serving In Merchant Marine Picture here shows John T. Boyte, son of Mrs. H. A. Boyte of Spray. John worked in the Blanket Stock Dept, at ' Central Warehouse for several years prior to January, 1951, when he re signed to go into the taxi business. He entered the Merch ant Marine during April and has made a number of trips to France since that time. He has request ed that The Mill Whistle be sent to him.
