Letters From Servicemen Dear Editor: During my week-end off, I thought 1 would write to you and let you know that 1 am out here in California at Ed wards Air Force Base. I am doing fine and liking the Air Force fine. I’ve been in for seven months, but I wish I was back in your mill as an employee. I will be in service about three more years. A/3c Herbert J. S. traffic accidents. 2 Members of the Fieldcrest Mills 25- Year Club will hear the nation’s top gospel singing group when the Sunshine Boys Quartet appears at the 25-Year Club picnic at Morehead Stadium Sat urday afternoon, September 25. Orga nized professionally in Atlanta, over 15 years ago, the quartet has retained its same personnel longer than any other professional group in this field. The Sunshine Boys have been recognized nationally as the finest radio, stage, television, motion picture, and concert spiritual group in the country. Appears In Movies The quartet has been active in 17 full-length Columbia motion pictures and featured on 600 radio stations throughout the U.S., its possessions, and several foreign countries. As Decca, Bibleton, and Lang-Worth recording artists, the Sunshine Boys and Red Foley recorded the top-selling gospel record of 1953, “Peace In The Valley.” The quartet appeared to over 1,000,- 000 people in concert during the past three years and was the first quartet in the South to appear on TV. They are featured over WSB, AM-FM, and TV Atlanta, Georgia, under sponsorship of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Com pany. The Sunshine Boys Quartet will pro vide the entertainment for this year’s 25-Year club picnic. They will also give a public performance in the evening of the same day. Members of the 25-Year Club will be admitted free to the public performance to be given in the Leaks- ville-Spray junior high school audi torium under sponsorship of the Draper Y’s Men’s Club. Dr. McGehee Is Speaker At Blowing Rock Meeting Dr. William McGehee, director of per sonnel research and training, Fieldcrest Mills, appeared on the program at the fall meeting of the production and cost division of the Southern Furniture Manufacturers’ Association at Blowing Rock, August 27-29.
