Mr. Ivie has been with Fieldcrest

Meetings This Week Will
Open New Council Year
A minister and a lawyer will address
separate meetings of the Carolina Co
operative Council and the Junior Caro
lina Council this week as the two orga
nizations begin their new program
years. Dr. W. Kenneth Goodson, super
intendent of the Winston-Salem district
of the Methodist church, will speak to
the senior group Thursday evening and
Clifton Beckwith, Raleigh attorney and
executive secretary of the State employ
ees association, will address the Junior
Council Tliesday.
Dr. Goodson is widely known and is
in great demand as an inspirational
speaker. Born and reared in Salisbury,
he attended Catawba College, Duke
University and Union Theological Semi
nary.
Mr. Beckwith has spoken here before
and his addresses were extremely well
received. He travels widely and speaks
