Blanket Mill, and Marshall Meeks, Finishing Mill, are members of the Fieldcrest 25-Year Club and the mere fact that they were in the hospital on the date of the an nual picnic did not bother them any. They were determined to be on hand for the annual meeting of the mills’ long service group. Their doctor consented to their leaving the hospital to attend provided they went by ambulance and 6 were accompanied by a nurse. The courageous 25-year clubbers are shown in the ambulance parked near the stage at Morehead stadium. Nurse accompanying them is Charlottee Be dell, supervisor of nurses at Tri-City hospital, and wife of Jerry Bedell, pack aging coordinator at Fieldcrest.
