Klein Is Named
To Rug Mill Post

Will Join Karastan
Appointment of Fred W. Klein as
assistant manager of the Karastan Rug
Mill, effective November 15, is an
nounced by E. W. Medbery, vice
president of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc.
Since his graduation from Dartmouth
College in 1937, Mr. Klein has been
associated with Alexander Smith, Inc.,
of Yonkers, N. Y., in various capacities.
He has served in both sales and pro
duction posts and for several years was
director of production planning and
control. He currently is general man
ager of the Yonkers plant.
During World War II, Mr. Klein was
for three years an aviator in the Ma
rine Corps. He is a member of the
U. S. Chamber of Commerce, a trustee
on the Hospital Board, Yonkers, and a
director of the Westchester County as
sociation.
He is married to the former Miss
Patricia Judd, of Los Angeles, Califor
nia, and they have three sons, aged 7,
6, and 2. He plans to move his family
here as soon as housing is available.
Mr. Klein is the son of Frederic B.
Klein, who was president and chair
man of the board of Alexander Smith,
Inc., until his death four years ago.

Thanksgiving Schedule
Is Announced For Mills
All plants and offices of Fieldcrest
Mills, Inc. will be closed for the
Thanksgiving holiday, Thursday, No
vember 25, resuming operations Friday,
November 26.
In mills where there is a third shift,
this shift will stop at the end of the
shift Wednesday morning, November
24, and resume operations Thursday
night, November 25, at the regular
time.
Pay roll checks for all mills normal
ly paid on Thursday will be paid on
Friday.
Employees in departments operating
on short time will be advised as to
whether or not their departments will
run on the Friday following Thanks
giving.
