YMCA’s Hold Membership D rives Consolidated Central YMCA Draper YMCA will conduct Separate but simultaneous mem bership campaigns throughout month of April. The slogan at Consolidated Central is “Every ^lember get five in ’55”. At I*raper YMCA the goal is 1000 Members, to include at least 400 adult memberships. Jones Norman and Warren Wilson co-chairmen for Consolidated Cen- ral while James Marlowe is chairman I^raper Y, assisted by the Board of Pirectors, the Y’s Men’s Club, and var- lous individuals. The drive officially opened Friday, ^Pril following kick-off meetings at Taper, Tuesday evening, March 29, at Consolidated Central Thursday evening, March 31. Local mills and business establish- ^ents and various clubs associated with “Y” were represented at the Con solidated Central meeting. Billie Jean Holman and parents look over Duke University catalog. Billie Jean plans to teach and will major in English and minor in science and mathematics. Her mother, Geneva S. Holman, is employed in the Blanket Folding Dept, at Finishing Mill. She and Mr. Holman first met while she was a topper at the Hosiery Mill and he was workmg with the canteen at Fieldale during the mid-thirties. Jr., Lacey Owen, Fred W. Klein, James Taylor, and Pete Lee. At Draper the following will be in charge of the campaign among Field- crest employees; Ernest Funderburk, chairman; Cecil Squires, T. B. Hamrick and Melvin Moore. Frank Setliff is chairman of the drive among the busi ness establishments, assisted by Lloyd Luther, John Hodges, and Dr. J. P. Elliott. Mrs. Virginia Tiller is chair man of the Women’s and Girls’ Div ision, assisted by Mamie Link and Frances Martin. The campaign in the schools will have Lee Tice as chairman with Voight Morgan assisting at Tri-City high school and Jimmy Chilton at Draper Junior high school. Dr. Charles Sugg will head the campaign among men’s clubs and organizations. Leonard Fain and R. O. Endicott are co-captains for the Central area and will have a com mittee of persons from that section. Junior Martin is chairman of the campaign in the Duke Power com munity and is assisted by Barbara Pendergrass and H. T. Harrison. The expanding programs of the two YMCA’s are reaching large numbers of people in all sections of Leaksville, Spray, Draper and surrounding areas. The campaigns this year will stress memberships for each member of the family, boys, girls, mother and fa ther. Children’s memberships begin at the age of seven. ’Phone Method Changed Fieldale personnel are requested to make the following change in their Fieldcrest telephone directory: On page 2 the instructions entitled “How to call a Spray number from Fieldale” should be deleted.
