Winning Tennis Titles Nothing New To Sam Daniel Sam Daniel holds one of 300-odd tennis trophies he’s won. A. C. (Sam) Daniel, assistant pur chasing agent fcr new materials at FiflMcrest, won his second straight men’s singles title in the North Caro lina Senior Closed tennis championship at Greensboro Country Club Septembe'^ 2. He defeated Greensboro’s Ed Hudgin® in the finals to retain his title as the North Carolina champion. Mr. Daniel, who came with Fieldcrest in February of this year, held the South Carolina singles championship for 14 years. He was transferred to North Car olina in 1955 and became the North Car olina champion for that year. He is the sixth ranking southern player and has won various tournaments in states throughout the South. All in all, he has won over 300 tro phies. At his home on Glovenia street in Leaksville the silver pieces are all over the house. He seems to pay little atten tion to the trophies except to wonder where to put so many of them. Although it is obvious that he keeps in practice, this too presents a problen' due to the lack of tennis facilities in the Tri-Cities. He works this out by play ing at the Greensboro Country Club on week-ends. Mr. Daniel is a native of Columbia> S. C., and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He was with Pacific Mills in its cotton classing department for 15 years before he joined Fieldcrest- Employ eeis !§!tore Inis tails New Fixtureis Serve- yourself racks have been in stalled at the Em ployees Store for better display of the merchandise and greater convenience for the customer. Four such racks are now in place and three additional ones are to be put into use later. The handsome fix tures are in charcoal and gold, harmoniz ing with the label on the packaged pro ducts. The new racks are in addition to the attractive pegboards installed recently to display the products in the lobby of the store.
