Old Timers May Remember This ■t Law enforcement of the early 1920’s is recalled by this old photo showing a “moonshine” still and five-gallon cans of “white lightning” captured by local police of that period. Officers shown, left to right, are “Race” Clark, Harry DeHart, Howard Fair and Chief W. L. Vernon (all now deceased). Chief Ver non was a gate guard at Karastan befor his death a few years ago. In picture. Officer Fair stands on tb running board of the 1921 touring which was daptured while hauling tb® 40 cans of bootleg whiskey. Note _tba the curtains on all cars are up, indicat' ing cold or bad weather. The photograph formerly belonged to Officser Clark’s widow, who gave it tp Joe Kallam, of the Specials Departme*y who loaned it for use in the WHISTLE. ‘Weavers Of The Week’ Listed For Towel Mill The Towel Mill’s top quality weaver^ for the current period are liste“ below. Each week, the mill gives ognition to the “top” weavers—thos® with the lowest per cent of second^ with respect to the standards for tb® / various loom groups. Names of tb® “Weavers of the Week” are posted the mill bulletin boards. Top weavers for the week endibe December 2 were: Dobby Terry—Euell Cannady Jacquard Terry—Harry Hardy Draper & Cam Terry—Culas Hundley KARASTAN CONFAB—They probably were talking about samples or perhaps a special order for carpets. Anyway, it looks like a serious discussion by these three well-known Karastan men. Left to right are, Howard Adkins, floor man; Laymen Hayden, sample cutter; and Bobby Hawkins, roll goods and sample clerk. All are in the Cut Order Department. IN APPRECIATION I would like to thank all of friends for the many kindnesses ab® courtesies shown to me during my ness. C. A. Davis FIELDCREST MILL W H I STL®
