Bruce Gauldin completed 50 years of continuous service January 1 to be come the first Blanket Mill employee to attain a half century of service alto gether in that mill. Mr. Gauldin will be honored by the management at a luncheon today (Monday) at 12:30 P-m. at Meadow Greens Country Club. Guests at the luncheon will include ®even other Fieldcrest employees who previously have attained 50 years of continuous service. President Harold Whitcomb will speak informally to the group and will present Mr. Gaul- with the Fieldcrest diamond-and- gold SO -year emblem. Other officers the Company will attend, together ''^ith members of the Blanket Mill man- ^Sement and supervision and repre- ^ntatives of the Industrial Relations department. Roberts of New Canaan, Connecticut, now staff assistant to the treasurer of the General Electric Com pany, will assume his duties February 1 as treasurer of Fieldcrest Mills Inc., as previously announced. Mr. Roberts, a native of Wise county, Va., plans to move his family to the Tri-Cities after he takes up his new position here. R. BRUCE GAULDIN . New 50-Year Man . Company Officers Will Address Council Meeting President Harold W. Whitcomb and other officers of the Company will present management reports at a joint meeting of the Carolina Cooperative Council and the Junior Council Thurs day, January 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Consolidated Central Y.M.C.A. In their talks, the officers will review the Company’s operations during the past year and will discuss the outlook for Fieldcrest Mills in 1957. The January meeting, featuring re ports by Management, is always a high light of the Council programs. A large attendance is expected at this week’s meeting. The Karastan Rug Mill is nearing completion of an extensive program of machinery relocation to gain spav,c for new equipment being installed and to prepare the mill for greater capacity and increased efficiency. New equipment already in operation or in the process of erection includes an extractor and skein dryer, 42 Foster winder spindles, an additional creel and reel for the pile yarn beaming unit, a ground warp beamer, and a carpet backsizing and drying unit. Two addi tional needle looms are on order with delivery expected this summer. The mill began rearranging its equip ment for a more efficient production flow nearly two years ago. Since thsit time every piece of machinery, except the washer equipment, the dye tubs and a few looms, has been relocated. The moves were made on week ends and during vacations. No weaving pro duction was lost and the mill set records in its shipments last fall during the period when most of the rearranging was taking place. The entire Finishing and Carving Depts. were moved to the first fijor of the main mill and placed adjacent to the Packing and Shipping Dept. The former finishing room is being used for winding, twisting and skein yarn storage. The Burling Dept, was moved to the (Continued on page four) Withholding Statements To Be Issued This Month W-2 forms, employees federal income tax withholding statements for 1956, are being prepared in the Payroll Dept, and will be distributed in the mills to all active employees by the end of the month. The W-2 forms for persons out sick or laid off will be mailed to them through the United States mail by Jan uary 81. The forms likewise will be sent through the U. S. mail to the last known address of all other persons who work ed any at all during the year but who are now terminated from the payroll.
