Members of the Fieldcrest Team I'tH EIMIU. WH ISTLE Issued Every Other Monday For Employees and Friends of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., Spray, N. C. Copyright, 1957, Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. Clara Deal, shipping room clerk at the Towel Mill, performs an important work in the mill’s warehousing and shipping system. As finished’goods are stored, she files a “location card’’ for each carton and maintains a numerical file showing where the cartons have been placed in the warehouse. When orders are to be shipped, she works from the bill of lading to make up a “location list” containing the cartoi\ numbers involved and the location of the cartons. She must be very accurate since a number copied wrong could result jn a mix-up in customer orders. An error in filing a card would cause difficulty and delay in locating the carton so that the complete order could be shipped. She must work efficiently and keep strictly up-to-date, or the entire ship ping operation would be hindered. By doing a good job she makes it possible to know at all times where each carton of finished goods is stc ed. This facilitates warehousing and ship ping operations and enables the mill to ship complete orders as scheduled. William Robinson, warper tender at the Synthetic Fabrics Mill, can affect his mill’s production, quality and costs. Many pounds of expensive yarn are run on his machines each day and any waste would be costly. One of the things he has to watch is the yardage so that his section beams will be of uniform length to avoid waste at ’.he beaming or slashing process. He patrols regularly to look for bad or soiled yarn and to see that beams are being run at the correct level. He repairs broken ends proper ly, to avoid causing defects in the cloth, and quickly, so that production will not be lost. He knows that efficient production is necessary to keep the looms running a3 scheduled. When dof fing, he keeps the yarn clean and is careful not to bruise or snag the b?am in handling. Through experience, skill and a con scientious rttitude toward his job, he makes a significant contribution to good quality and .efficient operation of his department and mill. By being careful to avoid waste he helps to prevent un necessary losses from this source. Officers Elected For Draper Y.M.C.A Newly-elected of ficers of the Dra per Y. M. C.
