Towel Employee Gets Letter From President message you recently sent to me. I am most heartened by the many expressions of good will which I have received. “I am sure that they reflect a broad unity of purpose in our nation. I hope that my record during the next four years will sustain your generous con fidence. “With every good wish, I am Sincerely John F. Kennedy” Mrs. Bole jack has framed the Ken nedy letter and says it is a prized pos session among a lot of presidential ma terial which she keeps. She has thick scrap books on each president starting with Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In one of the books Is a letter to Mrs. Bolejack from former President Harry S. Truman. After Mr. Truman left the White House, Mrs. Bolejack sent a birthday greeting to him at his home in Missouri, pointing out that the for mer president was born on the same day as Mrs. Bolejack’s mother, Mrs. Cary Holly of Route 1, Henry, Virginia. Although keeping scrap books and drawing cartoons afford Mrs. Bolejack much enjoyment, her greatest love is writing verses for both poems and songs. She has been writing since she was a young girl, but has never done anything about having her material published professionally. She says she was encouraged to write years ago when she won first prize in a poetry contest. She recalls with humor that she used the cash prize to pay for her first permanent wave. Mrs. Vercie Bolejack holds framed letter from President Kennedy. On election night last November, Mrs. Vercie Bolejack, a weaver at the Towel Mill dashed off a poem entitled “Mr. President.” She sent it to President John F. Kennedy, who promptly re sponded with the following letter to Mrs. Bolejack: “Thank you for the very friendly the information. Mr. Powell in turn contacted H. E. Williams, who is respon sible for floor finishing at Fieldcrest, and Mr. Williams furnished the r^uest- ed information and offered to give Mr. Grinsfelder any additional assistance desired. 1
