Five Fieldcresters Elected To Town Offices Shown below are five Fieldcrest men who were elected town commissioners in the municipal elections May 2. C. B. Rakestraw, retired from the Re search and Quality Control Depart ment, was re-elected to the LeaksviUe board of commissioners. Paul Shropshire, instructor-loomfixer at the Blanket Mill, was re-elected to the Draper board of commissioners. Russell Stewart, also a loomfixer at the Blanket Mill, was elected to the Draper board of commissioners. Jesse Griggs, assistant foreman in the Blanket Mill Weave Room, and Jim Rob ertson, supervisor of grounds mainten ance at Fieldcrest Mills were elected to the Spray board of commissioners. DeHart, Homer Fain, and Bud Roberts, weavers on Loom 58, won the Karastan Weave Room Housekeep ing Award for the month of April. In recognition of their outstanding housekeeping, an attractive certificate has been placed on Loom 58 and will remain up throughout the month of May. A certificate is awarded each month to weavers on the loom which has the highest total points in four housekeeping inspections made by the supervisors. A housekeeping “scoreboard” in the Weave Room shows the points given on the various looms as each inspection is completed. By referring to this board the weavers can tell at all times how they stand in their housekeeping performance. Graduate’s name Name of college or university I^egree ta be received Parents’ names 18 Blanket Weavers On Quality Honor List Several Operators Continuing Their Outstanding Records; Newcomers Are Listed A total of 18 weavers appear on the Blanket Mill’s quality honor list for the six months ending April 30. Included are 11 plain or dobby weavers and seven in the jacquard classification. New names added to the list for the latest period include Carrie A. Holland and John R. McGavisk, plain or dobby, and Cicero D. Underwood, jacquard. The listing of the quality weavers is part of a program at the Blanket Mill designed to emphasize the importance of quality weaving and to give recogni tion for outstanding records. In order to make the quality honor list, a weaver must work for six months without a major quality defect. When a weaver on the list has a ma jor quality defect, his name is dropped. Other weavers are added as they attain six months of quality work. Quality weavers for the six months ending April 30 are shown below.
