Fall Training Courses To Open Sept. 18 Fieldcrest’s semi-annual series of de partmental management courses for supervisors and staff personnel will be gin the week of September 18. The courses will again be under the Joint auspices of Fieldcrest and the Vocational Education Division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The State will issue certifi cates to enrollees who complete a course. The courses to be offered and the in structors are as follows: Industrial Sta tistics, William McGehee; Slide Rule, '^nald R. Warren; Quality Control— Karastan, W. D. fficks; “Notehand” (a simplified system of shorthand), Odell Nassar; and Cost Control—Bleachery and Finishing Mill, R. M. Fuller, Jr. With the exception of Industrial Sta- tistics, which will meet from 4:00 p. m. 6:00 p. m. on Mondays, all of the Courses are to be given in the evening. A folder describing the courses and Siving details of arrangements has been •stributed. Supervisors and staff per sonnel who have any questions should in touch with William McGehee or ■ E. Lawson, USMCR, who is head of the chemical laboratory in the Fieldcrest Research and Quality Control Department, has been named commanding officer of the 22nd Rifle Company, USMCR, Winston-Salem. Captain Lawson served as executive officer of the 22nd Rifle Company prior to his selection as commanding officer by the Commandant of the Marine Corps. He served during World War II as a gunner with the Army Air Corps. He entered the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1949 as a member of the pla toon leaders’ class program while at tending Lowell Technological Institute at Lowell, Massachusetts. Upon gradua tion and being commissioned, he served on the active duty with 1st Marine Di vision in Korea. Captain Lawson has been associated with the Marine Corps Reserve in vari ous capacities since his release from ac tive duty in 1952. He has been a mem ber of the 22nd Rifle Company in Win ston-Salem since April, 1958. As company commander, he was in charge of the group recently during two weeks of field training with units of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune. Captain Lawson has been associated with Fieldcrest since September, 1958. He and his wife and three children live at 108 Farrell Street in Roulhac Knolls, i CAPT. WAYNE IL LAWSON .
