To Entertain; Treats Will Be Distributed Pieldcrest Mills will sponsor Christ- *^s parties for the children of em ployees on Saturday and Sunday, De- *^6mber 9 and 10. The children of all ®wiployees in the various locations are *nvited to attend the party in their area. The first party will be at 10 a. m. ^ati^day in the Fieldale High School ^ditorium for the children of Towel ^ill employees. This will be followed y a party at 2 p. m. Saturday in the ^ew auditorium at Morehead High School for the children of all employees plants and offices in the Tri-Cities. On Sunday at 2:30 p. m., a party will ® held in McGinnis Auditorium at East Carolina College for the children of ®’^ployees of the Karastan Spinning Di vision at Greenville. At 7:30 p. m. Sun- children of employees of the Auto- *^atic Blanket Plant at Smithfield will attend a party in the Smithfield High School auditorium. For entertainment, the Company has contracted for performances by “The Littlest Circus,” a New York troupe in which actors and dancers play the part of circus animals and clowns. Santa Claus will appear at each party and will have a treat for every child. Employees may obtain tickets for their children by contacting the fore man or assistant foreman. Parents are asked to accompany small children. Door prizes, consisting of products of Fieldcrest Mills and dressed turkeys, will be awarded in drawings among the employees attending the parties at the various locations. Employees should make requests for tickets promptly but should not ask for more tickets than they will actually use. Sixteen Retire Under Pension Plan Sixteen employees retired under the leldcrest Pension Plan effective De- ^ernber i to make a total of 709 re- employees who are now receiving 'Monthly pension checks. Ceremonies honoring the retirees held in the various mill managers’ Offices Thursday morning, November 30. The new pensioners were congratu- s^ted upon having reached retirement ®ge when they can enjoy greater leis- 'fe with a monthly pension for life paid by the Company. During the pro- Sram, each retiree was presented with check for the first month’s pension. The mill managers and members of Industrial Relations staff explained fie various benefits available to the ^inpany’s retired employees. It was ^mted out that retired employees are ”11 considered members of the “Field- ^®st family” and the retirees were in- *ted to return to the mills frequently keep up with the Company’s progress. It Was interesting to note that the De- ®*hber i retirees included William Lee flson and Nina Nelson, husband and ^*6. both of whom were employees of years, led the group in length of con tinuous service. Carl Carter, with 44 Employees Store To Be Open Extra Hours For the convenience of employees during- the Christmas shopping: season, the Employees Store at Spray will be open on the following schedule begin ning- December 4: The Store will be open from 8 a. m. until 6 p. m„ Monday through Thurs day; from 8 a. m. until 8:30 p. m. on Fridays; and from 8 a. m. until 6 P. m. on Saturdays. During the week beginning Decem ber 18, the Store will be open from 8 a. m. until 8:30 p. m„ Monday through Friday, and from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. on Saturday. For the convenience of third shift em ployees at the Towel Mill, the Fieldale Elmployees Store -will be open each Tuesday and Friday at 7 a. m. during the month of December. JOHN R. MAUNEY Mauney Promoted To Nye-Wait Manager John R. Mauney, superintendent of the Nye-Wait carpet mill, Auburn, New York, has been promoted to man ager of the Nye-Wait plant, replacing Harold H. Fonda who resigned effective December 1, 1961, after reaching Field- crest’s normal retirement age. Mr. Mauney will report to Fred W. Klein, assistant manager of the Kar astan Rug Mill who will report to R. A. Harris, vice - president, manufacturing, in regard to Nye-Wait operations. A native of Shelby, Mr. Mauney was graduated from Wake Forest College in 1949 with a B. S. degree in biology and chemistry and from North Carolina State College in 1951 with a B. S. degree in textile chemistry and dyeing. He served in the U. S. Navy 1945-1947 and joined Fieldcrest Mills in June, 1951. After working for a time in the Fin ishing Mill at Spray, he was at the Kar astan Mill in various capacities until his appointment as foreman of the weave room in 1957. He was transferred to Nye-Wait in December, 1960, as super intendent.
