Organization Changes Announced At Towel Mill R. S. Martin Walter Danhoff R. L. Jamerson C. J. Jones R. D. Hundley The company has announced the ap pointment of R. D. Hundley, Cloth Room foreman, as night superintendent of the Towel Mill and of Robert L. Jamerson, night foreman of the mill, to foreman of the Weave Room. Other organization changes announced included: Walter Danhoff, from weaving foreman to Cloth Room foreman; Ray- A Bedspread Mill employee has de veloped a safety device which has been attached to all of the warpers in the mill. Clyde Carter, a fixer in the Winding Department, devised a microswitch which stops a warper immediately if something happens to the locks holding the beam. The switch also prevents a warper from being started if the beam is not properly locked in. Mr. Carter had observed the potential danger of a heavy beam revolving at high speed. He began thinking about some way to make the warper inopera tive when a beam was not held secure ly in the proper position in the machine. He devised the microswitch which mond S. Martin, from assistant foreman to shift foreman in the Weave Room, second shift; and C. Jackson Jones, from assistant foreman to shift foreman in the Weave Room, third shift. Mr. Hundley has been associated with the company for more than 40 years. In his early years, he worked on pro duction jobs and as assistant foreman worked successfully and was immedi ately adopted by the mill. Officials of the Bedspread Mill have congratulated Mr. Carter on his interest in safety and ingenuity in working out the improvement. In commenting on the achievement, Giles Hunnings, superintendent, said: “Safety consciousness by employees de termines the effectiveness of our safety program. Mr. Carter’s initiative in de veloping this safety switch shows his interest in the safety of his fellow-em- ployees as well as himself. I am sure that with this type of attitude towards safety by our employees we shall con tinue to eliminate any unsafe acts or unsafe areas in our plant.” in the Weave Room. He was foreman of the Weave Room from 1940 through 1956 and was foreman of the Cloth Room from 1956 until he was named night superintendent. Mr. Jamerson worked in the Towel Mill Weave Room until he entered mili tary service in World War II. He was in service 1943-1946 and upon his re turn, again worked in the Weave Room. He later was in the Production Control Department and the Standards Depart ment. He was named assistant foreman in the Weave Room in 1954 and became night foreman in July, 1960. Mr. Danhoff joined the Towel Mill in October, 1955, and served as night superintendent vmtil he was named fore man of the Weave Room in May, 1959. He continued in the latter position un til he was transferred to the Cloth Room as the foreman of that department. Mr. Martin has over 35 years of con tinuous service with the company and has worked the entire time in the Towel Mill Weave Room. He was a weaver for over 10 years and a loom- fixer for over 15 years. He was pro moted to assistant foreman in 1953, and has been a supervisor continuously since that time. Mr. Jones was first employed in 1956 as an overhauler helper in the Towel Mill Spinning Department. A few months later he was named special overhauler and continued in that ca pacity until he became a supervisory trainee in 1958. He has been assistant foreman in the Weave Room since Jan uary 1, I960.
