Shown registering him is IVlr^ Sacrinty, one of the volunteer workers who assisted. Fieldcresters Donate Blood The Bloodmobile collected 88 pints of blood on its visit to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, in Spray, September 12. Ap proximately two-thirds of the donors were employees of the Fieldcrest plants in Spray. A sizable number of persons from the General Offices also gave blood. Lester N. Brown, of the Bedspread Mill, gave his 53rd pint, making a total of over 6Vz gallons of blood he has do nated since 1945. Certificates from the Red Cross were presented to four Fieldcrest men who have become members of the “Gallon Club” by donating eight or more pints of blood. These were John W. Arnall and Frank T. Suttenfield, both of the Finishing Mill; Russell D. Cherry, of the Data Processing Department; and Robert L. Moore, of the Industrial Re lations Department. The certificates were presented by Mrs. Harry Fagg, chairman of volunteer services for the Leaksville-Spray-Dra- per Red Cross chapter. B. F. Dunton, of the Purchasing De partment, who is the local Bloodmobile chairman, expressed appreciation to all of the donors, to those who offered to give blood but were not allowed to for various reasons and to the doctors, nurses and volunteer workers who as sisted. “While we are grateful to those who have been so faithful in their support of the Blood Program,” Mr. Dunton said, “we must point out that our participa tion still is not good. The Tri-City area is using more blood than is donated here and such a situation can not continue if we are to have blood available when needed by our sick and injured.” He said the actual usage in the past two months was 126 pints, whereas only about 100 pints are donated every two months, when the Bloodmobile comes here. “One thing that needs to be done to increase our collection of blood is for friends of those who have received blood to help us secure donors when the Bloodmobile comes here. It seems only fair that those whose loved ones have benefited from the Blood Program should assist us in securing donors so that blood will be available when needed by others who are sick or injured. Also, if there are clubs or organiza tions that are willing to help us secure donors, we would welcome their assist ance, which is desperately needed,” Mr. Dunton said. Individuals or organizations that are willing to help should get in touch with Mr. Dunton at MAin 3-2123, extension 5324, or Mrs. James Barksdale at the Red Cross office, telephone MAin 3- 3632. Mrs. R. W. Moore, a registered nurse, takes temperatures of Fieldcrest group including, from left, Boyce Williams, Lonnie Hankins, Calvin Smith and Carson Oakley Donors Robert Lindsey, left, and Lawrence Strange, both of Bedspread Finishing, receive refreshments.
