Reception Honors Draper Couple Employee’s Son Takel Part In Naval Exercis* At Draper reception, Mr. and Mrs. Zeb V. K. Dickson, honorees (shown at left), chat with the Rev. J. S. Higgins, pastor of First Methodist Church, Draper. In back ground at right is Mrs. J. H. Ripple who was in the receiving line. Mr. and Mrs. Zeb V. K. Dickson were honored by church groups and the com munity at a reception in the fellowship hall of the First Methodist Church, Dra per, Wednesday evening, August 28. The couple was married August 20 in the Kerr Street Methodist Church in Concord with the Rev. William A. Rock, Jr., former pastor of the bride, offici ating. They left on a Florida trip im mediately after the ceremony. Mrs. Dickson is the former Mamie Helen Link, a daughter of Mrs. Eugene Glen Rorrer Has Fine Record Of Attendance Link of Draper and the late Mr. Link. A native of Lexington, she attended the local schools and the Shenandoah Con servatory of Music at Dayton, Va. She has been the organist at the First Methodist Church, Draper, for sev eral years and is director of the Dra per Y.M.C.A. Men’s Chorus and the Women’s Chorus. She is employed in the Draper Cost Department and is a member of the reporting staff of The Mill Whistle. Mr. Dickson has been a member of the faculty at the Draper Junior High School for the past two years. He is a native of Western North Carolina and received his undergraduate degree and his master’s degree from Appalachian State Teachers College at Boone. Mr. and Mrs. Dickson are making their home at 326 West Virginia Avenue in Draper. Wayne I. Cox, seaman, USN, is ^ ing aboard the amphibious force ship USS ESTES, which operates San Diego, California. tj The ESTES, a Seventh Fleet un*|'l cently participated in the joint Republic of Korea amphibious “Operation Flagpole” near Seoul- ^ 6 Seaman Cox is the son of Mrs. Edgar R. Cox of 326 Green" Street, Leaksville. Mrs. Cox is in the Burling Department at the Stan Mill. Blanket Mill Employ^ Grows Big Tomatoes John Wayne Carter Glen Rorrer, a fireman in the Finish ing Mill boiler room, worked every scheduled day in 1962 but was not in cluded in earlier pictures of employees with perfect attendance records. Glen recalled that the last time he was absent from work was in 1958— the year that the Morehead High School football team won the state champion ship. Glen lost three hours from work in order to see the semi-final Morehead- Canton game in Asheville. SS'S John Wayne Carter, five months old, is son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Carter. Fa ther is a filter operator at Karastan and mother, Nellie Carter, is an inspector at the Blanket Mill. Grandfather, Robert Crouch, is employed in the Blanket Mill Cotton Carding Department. Snapshot shows C. B. Caldwell' Carolina Avenue, Draper, whose '1 IS growing vegetables. This raised some tomatoes weighing two pounds. Shown behind Mr. are two of his granddaughters and Karen Boyd.
