Bedspread Depts. To
Get Air Conditioning
As part of the continuing program of
improvements at Fieldcrest, refrigerated
air conditioning is to be installed in the
Carding, Spinning and Winding Depart

The air conditioning will improve
manufacturing conditions by permitting
more uniform control of temperature
and humidity as well as making it
more comfortable for employees.
To date Fieldcrest has installed air
conditioning in all of the cotton weave
rooms in the plants in North Carolina
and Virginia. In addition, refrigerated
air conditioning was installed in the
Carding and Spinning Departments at
the Sheeting Mill in 1960.
In the current improvements at the
Bedspread Mill, work is already under
way on flattening the roof over the
departments and it is expected that this
phase of the project will be completed
by the end of October.
The remaining part of the saw-tooth
roof will be replaced by a modern, flat,
insulated roof needed in connection with
the air conditioning system. The new
