A Christmas Message FROM OUR PRESIDENT As we enter the Christmas season it is again my privilege to address all Fieldcrest employees through the columns of The Mill Whistle. This has been an eventful year for our Company. Although final results will not be known for some weeks, we expect that both sales and profits will reach new highs. We have continued our expansion program, not only by a very sub stantial capital program in our established mills, but also by the acquisition of Kimberly Yarn Mills, a yarn manufactur ing plant in Mount Holly, North Carolina, and the Musco gee Manufacturing Company, a large towel mill at Colum bus, Georgia. A new, modern screen printing plant was built at Stokes- dale. North Carolina, by Foremost Screen Print, Inc., in which Fieldcrest holds a substantial stock interest. A new, enlarged warehouse facility was built and occupied by our Dallas Service Center. The Fieldcrest Store was enlarged to accom modate the increased patronage this successful venture has attracted. In addition to’ these acquisitions and improvements, more than $3,000,000 was spent on additions and improvements to our other mills and properties. A very substantial capital program for 1964 has been approved by our directors which will get under way soon after the first of the year. All of these projects and activities are necessary to further the growth and development of our Company, to keep us com petitive and modern, thereby contributing to the job security of Fieldcrest employees, to the financial investment of our stockholders, and to the growth of our sales to our customers. Our employment is the highest in our history. We employ more people in the Tri-City area than we did before the Automatic Blanket Mill was moved. Our mills have run at a record rate of activity the entire year. Our payrolls have been the highest ever. For the second consecutive year employees have received a general wage increase.
