THE MILL WHISTLER THOMAS R. SMITHWICK MALCOLM A. TAYLOR J.V. WT Organization Changes Announced The following organization changes, assistant foreman of the Spinning De effective Monday, May 17, have been announced: Thomas R. Smithwick, assistant fore man in the Spinning Department at the Karastan Spinning Division, Greenville, was transferred to Leaksville as assist ant foreman in the Weave Room at the Karastan Mill. Malcolm A. Taylor, quality control technician at the Karastan Spinning Di vision, was appointed assistant foreman in the Spinning Department at Green ville, replacing Mr. Smithwick. A native of Windsor, Mr. Smithwick first joined the company in September, 1961, as assistant foreman in the Repair Department at the Automatic Blanket Plant, Smithfield. He later worked as a standards engineer at Smithfield and in July, 1962, was transferred to Green ville as a trainee. He was promoted to partment in July, 1963. Mr. Smithwick is married to the for mer Sara Lancaster, also a Windsor na tive. They have a daughter eight years old; a son, six; and a daughter, four years old. The family will move to the Tri-Cities as soon as housing arrange ments have been completed. Mr. Taylor began his employment with Fieldcrest Mills as a quality con trol technician at Greenville in Febru ary, 1965. He was born at Tally-ho, and attended Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh. He is currently en rolled at East Carolina College and is in his senior year working toward an A.B. degree. Mr. Taylor is married to the former Rebecca Ann Davis of Winston-Salem, who is a business major senior at East Carolina College. Robertson Named Spray Mayor Pro Tern W. Jim Robertson, Sr., grounds super visor at Fieldcrest, served as Mayor of Spray for several days following his re cent election to the town board. Running for his third term as a com missioner, he led the ticket in the Spray municipal election May 4. Then, at the organizational meeting of the new board, his fellow commissioners unanimously elected him mayor pro tem. He served as mayor while Mayor Russell W. Hunt er was away on vacation. In addition to his municipal office, Mr. Robertson is a member of the re cently - organized Rockingham County Wildlife Commission, senior vice com mander of the Strong - Martin - Stegail Post No. 2544, Veterans of Foreign Ways, a member and deacon of Floyd Bapti.>t Church. He served in the South Pacific with the Second Marine Division in World War II and participated in the landings at Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa.
