The four young people—children of

tion in 1965 have announced plans for
their college education and careers.
Barry Trevis Byrd, son of Mr. and
^Trs. Wilbur Trevis Byrd, of Rt. 1, Lin-
'yood, has been accepted at North Caro
lina State University at Raleigh and
^ill major in textile technology.
Larry Irvin Denny, son of Mr. and
^rs. George Irvin Denny, Spray, has

College. He plans to major in mathe-

teacher and later a college teacher.
Jovita Dawn Flynn, daughter of Mr.

Retires After Career Spanning
History Of Karastan Rug Mill
The appointment of Fred W. Klein as
division vice president—rug manufac
turing has been announced by Harold
W. Whitcomb, president of Fieldcrest
Mills, Inc. Mr. Klein also was appoint
ed manager of the Karastan Rug Mill,
replacing J. M. Norman, Jr., who re
tired May 31.
Mr. Klein will report to Robert A.
Harris, vice president—manufacturing of
Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. Henry F. Morris,
manager of the Karastan Spinning Di
vision at Greenville, and John R.
Mauney, manager of the Nye-Wait Di
vision at Auburn, N. Y., will report to
Mr. Klein as previously.
Since joining Fieldcrest in 1954, Mr.
Klein has been assistant manager of the
Karastan Rug Mill. Active in communi
ty affairs, he helped to organize the
Meadow Greens Sanitary District and
has served as chairman of the board of
commissioners since the district was es
tablished in 1959.
He is president of the Rockingham
County Heart Association and a board
member of the state association. He was
a 1965 recipient of the Silver Medallion,
the highest award given by the North
Carolina Heart Association.
He is vice president and a director
