Ensign William B. Marlowe, USNR,
was graduated from the U. S. Naval
Officer Candidate School, at Newport,
R. I., and commissioned an officer in
the U. S. Navy.
He graduated from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1965
with a B. S. degree in industrial rela
tions. At Newport, he was part of a class
of 321 students from colleges and uni
versities from throughout the United
States who completed 16 weeks of in
tensive training in naval sciences prior
to receiving their commissions.
Ensign Marlowe is the son of Field-
cresters Otis and Anne Marlowe of 210
Thomas Street, Spray. He worked, at
the mills during the summer while at
tending the University and immediately
before entering officer candidate school
was employed by the Fieldcrest Canteen
Service.
