Scouts Visit Smithfield Plant The Automatic Blanket Plant at Smithfield was host recently to a group of five senior Scouts and Explorers as the Scouts participated in “Project Free Enterprise Day.” Upon arrival at the plant, the Scouts were greeted by Robert F. Sambleson, plant manager, who made a brief talk to them on the history of the Company and sales activities. Then, after a brief session on employment and personnel practices, the Scouts were conducted on a tour of the manufacturing facilities by John J. Beck, personnel manager. The Scouts saw the fundamental steps of manufacturing, packaging and ship ping of automatic blankets. Upon com pletion of the tour of the manufacturing areas, the Scouts heard a talk by Wil liam K. Cannon, office manager, who spoke on profits and how accounting fits into the operation of the business. After their tour of the Automatic Blanket Plant, the Scouts joined 200 other Scouts and Explorers at the Golds boro Motor Hotel for a banquet in their honor. Shirley McGuire Named Mill Whistle Reporter Shirley McGuire has been appointed The Mill Whistle reporter for the Mid west Service Center at Elgin, Illinois. Mrs. McGuire has been with the Mid west Service Center since its opening in October of last year. She is present ly the assistant biller and looks forward to operating the new automatic billing equipment, which is to be installed soon. She and her husband.
