Privilege and Responsibility C^ie gift works many wonders Those of us with good health, good employment and a chance for happiness have the privilege and the responsibility of helping those who are less for tunate. This we can do by contributing to the Tri-City Community Fund campaign. Solicitations on behalf of the Community Fund will be conducted in the plants and offices in the Eden area October 21-25. Employees who are already signed up on a continuing basis will not be solicited, of course, but all others will be contacted and asked to pledge a contribution. The pledge can be paid in small installments through payroll deductions. The suggested basis of giving is the equivalent of one day’s pay and a large percentage of employees have made such pledges. The community-wide goal in the campaign is $97,500, representing the budget needs for the next year of the 11 health, welfare and recreational agen cies that receive support from the Community Fund. A well-organized campaign is seeking contributions from all employed persons in Eden at their places of employment. As at Fieldcrest, employees in other businesses and industries are being asked to contri bute on the day’s pay basis, which is considered the Fair Share in consideration of the needs of the com munity. by Maf&sa Fieldcresters can assure the success of the cam paign by contributing generously as they have in the past. If you are not now signed up for a continuing deduction, won’t you pledge a Fair Share in this year’s drive? By doing so you will be joining with your fellow workers and fellow citizens in taking GIVE THE UNITED WAY care of the human needs and obligations in youf home community. You will enjoy a sense of satisfaC' tion in knowing that you joined with your neighbor® and did your part in an unselfish, most worthwhile cause.
