A total of 218 employees purchased safety shoes at the clinic. Laurelcrest Employees Buy Safety Shoe^ An outstanding 91 percent of the Laurelcrest Carpet Plant employees bought safety shoes at the recent safety shoe clinic held at the mill. Of the 239 employees sized at the plant in Laurel Hill, 218 purchased one or more pairs of safety shoes. A breakdown of the purchases show ed that 199 pairs were ordered and 111 pairs delivered at the clinic, conducted by Floyd N. Strader, of the Blanket Mill Office, Eden. Mr. Strader, for the Fieldcrest Safety Department, handles the fitting of the shoes at all clinics and the training of the safety shoe rep resentatives at the respective mills. Kenneth R. Baggett, Fieldcrest safety director, in commenting on the clinic at Laurel Hill, said; “There was tremendous interest ia the program, indicating that the ehi' ployees recognized the benefits of safety shoes and realized that they were get' ting a good buy.” Employee’s Daughter Makes California Trip Fashion Show Will Be Given At State Fair Pvt. Charles Church Stationed At Lejeune (Continued from Page One) fashion show at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. throughout the week, and on Saturday there will be showings at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. June Mohler, of New York, Field- crest’s manager of publicity and sales training, will have charge of the fash ion show. She will be assisted by per sons from Eden and Columbus, Ga., and by employees’ daughters who are at tending college in Raleigh. Models will be furnished by the Raleigh Jaycettes. The show consists of dresses, bathing suits, sunclothes and loungewear de signed by 15 leading American cou turiers from materials actually used in Fieldcrest domestics products. Diane Raynor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence G. Raynor of Four Oaks, has recently returned from California where she visited her brother, SP4 John G. Raynor and his wife, Jean. SP4 Ray nor was serving in the army until he was discharged September 11. He was stationed at Fort Ord, California. Diane’s father is employed as a guard at the Automatic Blanket Plant at Smithfield. The creations include bedspreads turned into jumpsuits, shower curtains into evening gowns, towels into just about everything. There’s even an auto matic blanket-turned-mini coat that winks as well as warms. In addition, a number of the outfits highlight do-it- yourself designs from commercial pat terns. Pvt.
