President G. W. Moore was chief speaker at 25-Year Club meeting. Blanket Mill Progress Reviewed Fieldcrest is at the forefront in the blanket business and has made remark able progress in the blanket operation in the past 15 years, G. William Moore, president of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., told members of the 25-Year Club from the Blanket Operation and the General Of fices at their recent luncheon meeting. Mr. Moore traced the history of the Blanket Mill’s business since the pur chase of the mills by the present owners in 1953 and told of Fieldcrest’s dra matic growth since that time. He reviewed the operating results of the company for the first nine months of this year. He said that, while sales and gross profit were up, virtually all of the costs of doing business are up, leaving a relatively small amount for growth, modernization and new ma chinery. He discussed the rapid population growth in the United States and the world and described some of the prob lems as well as the opportunities result ing from the rapid increase in the popu lation. Looking ahead five years, Mr. Moore predicted the company will continue to grow, with expected internal growth and acquisitions. Norman F. Young, manager of the Blanket Operation, was master of cere monies and presented the 45 new mem bers who became eligible for the 25- Year Club this year. He expressed ap preciation for the contribution the 25- Year Club members have made to the success of the company. “The success of Fieldcrest Mills has been brought about by its people—par ticularly those who have been with the company for many years. It has been largely the faithful, dependable, long- service employees who have made if'® company the success that it is,” Young declared. Attending the meeting in the Draps'' Junior High School auditorium were tb® 25-Year Club members from the Blanket greige and finishing mills, the Bleach' ery. Central Warehouse, General Office® and Specials Department. A total of 63" members are included in this division.
