tive November 1.
A native of Dry Fork, Va., Mr. Hern
don graduated from Whitmell High
School and received his B. S. degree in
business administration from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute in 1966.
He joined Fieldcrest in June 1966 as a
management trainee in the Blanket Op
eration. He was on active duty as a
member of the National Guard from
March until September in 1967. Upon
his return, he resumed his training in
the Blanket Operation and in Decem
ber 1967 was appointed assistant fore
man in the Shipping and Storage De
