Sheeting Mill Shows Big
Gains In Housekeeping
It is an obvious fact that good mill housekeeping improves the work
ing conditions for employees — that it is more pleasant to work in
clean, attractive surroundings. It is recognized also that good industrial
housekeeping aids efficiency, quality and safety.
Therefore, it is easy to see that the effort and expense invested in
improving mill housekeeping pays dividends all around. Painting up,
fixing up, zoning the floor areas and making other arrangements to
provide orderliness and cleanliness help employees and the company.
A good example is the Sheeting Mill where housekeeping is being
emphasized and where the results are impressive. The improvement in
the Weave Room has been remarkable considering the machinery
damage and damage from water and smoke in a fire that occurred in
March 1968.
The Weave Room was completely repainted, the floors refinished
and new lighting installed. The looms were cleaned and the floor
around the looms was painted a light gray. Loom arches were painted
white for better appearance.
Not only in the Weave Room but in the other departments the im
proved housekeeping is apparent. The Picker Room, where new
machinery was installed several months ago, has been repainted and
the floors refinished and zoned for proper storage. Improvements also
have been made in the Carding, Spinning and Spooling Departments.
The pictures on these pages, made in some of the Sheeting Mill de
partments, show typical areas where the housekeeping has been great
ly improved during the past several months.
