WASHBURN Six Receive New Supervisory Assignments A number of changes in the super visory organization at Fieldcrest, effec tive recently, have been announced as follows: In the Bedspread Mill Weave Room, J. H. Crowder, Jr., assistant foreman, was appointed section foreman in the same department. In changes at the Blanket Finishing Mill, Robert L. Glasgow, foreman of the Packaging Department, was named sys tems coordinator at Central Warehouse. Richard R. Watkins, assistant foreman, was appointed foreman of the Packag ing Department replacing Mr. Glasgow. Also at the Blanket Finishing Mill, Raymond A. Hoskins, second hand in the Piece Dyeing Department, was named assistant foreman in the same depart ment. Robert C. Edwards, assistant fore man over the channel blanket cutting operation, was appointed assistant fore man in the Blanket Cutting and Sewing Department. John D. Washburn, sec ond hand, became assistant foreman in the Piece Dyeing Department. Mr. Crowder, a native of Mayodan, first joined the company in 1927. He worked as a battery hand at the Nan tucket Mill for several years and later was a loom fixer at the Sheeting Mill. He became a loom fixer at the Bed spread Mill in 1939 and was made a second hand in 1956. He became an as sistant foreman in 1958. Mr. Watkins is a native of the Eden area and a graduate in business admin istration of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he at tended on a Fieldcrest Scholarship. He joined Fieldcrest as a management trainee in 1967. He was an assistant foreman in the Bedspread Mill Spinning Department before becoming assistant foreman in the Blanket Cutting and Sewing Department in 1968. Mr. Glasgow joined Fieldcrest in Aug ust, 1966, as a management trainee in the Beck Dye Department at the Finish ing Mill. About a year later, he was made assistant foreman of that depart ment. He was then transferred to the Blanket Packaging Department as assist ant foreman. He was made foreman of Packing and Packaging in May, 1968. He received his B.A. degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1963. He then entered the Army for three years and was discharged a first lieutenant. He is a native of Pennsyl vania. Mr. Hoskins, a native of Danville, Va., worked with various firms at Greens boro and Reidsville before joining Field crest in 1964. His first job was as a dye stuff weigher in the Piece Dyeing De partment. He was appointed second hand in the department in 1966 and continued in that position until he be came assistant foreman.
