ALLEN CURRY . . . 45 Years . . . ARNIE MASON , . . 40 Years . . . Curry And Mason Receive Service Awards Allen Curry of the Bedspread Mill today, May 12, completes a record of 45 years of continuous service. Also reaching an outstanding mile stone of service during May was James Arnie Mason, who completed 40 years of unbroken service on May 6. Mr. Curry, a native of Henry Coun ty, Va., was first employed as a doffer in the old Nantucket Spinning Depart ment May 12, 1924. He was transferred to the Draper Sheeting Mill as a section hand when sheeting operations were consolidated there in 1937. He later worked on various jobs at the Sheeting, Woolen and Blanket Mills and has been a quill collector and cleaner at the Bed spread Mill since 1955. Mr. Mason, also a Henry County na tive, was first employed in the old Jack Spinning Department at the Blanket Mill in 1919, although his service was not continuous since that time. He worked as a doffer during the early 1920’s and became a spinner and doffer May 6, 1929. He has continuous service since the latter date. Mr. Mason became a Model E spinner in 1949 and continues to work in that classification at the present time. ‘Lion of the Year’ New Asst. Foreman |r ..J Claude Landis, foreman of Plant Service at the Alexander Sheeting Mill, was chosen “Lion of the Year” by the Forest City Lions Club. Mr. Landis was honored at a joint meeting of the Rutherford County Lions Clubs. He has been a Lion for four years, and was appointed chairman of the broom sale for this year. William S. Parham has recently join ed Winchester Spinning Corp. in Ashe ville as assistant foreman, third shift, in the Spinning, Twisting and Reeling Department. Mr. Parham is a graduate of Swan- nanoa High School and had 18 months of training in busines school at Blan ton’s Business College. Prior to being employed at Winchester, he was with Beacon Mfg.
