Three Complete 40- Year Records EDWARD S. BARKSDALE Three Fieldcrest employees, one in the General Offices and two at the Blanket Warehouse, have reached 40 years of continuous service with the Company. Edward S. Barksdale, John S. Eggles ton and Kathleen S. Hill each has been presented the Fieldcrest diamond-and- gold 40-year pin and a letter of com mendation from G. W. Moore, president of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. Edward S. Barksdale, an internal au ditor in the Finance and Accounting Division, in June completed 40 years of continuous service with the company. Born at Eden, he was first employed June 11, 1929, as a quill hand in the Weave Room at the old Nantucket Mill. He became an office boy at the Gen eral Offices in just a short while and in 1933 was transferred to the Cost De partment as a clerk. He worked as a cost accountant for many years, mainly at the General Offices in Eden. After Fieldcrest purchased the St. Marys Woolen Manufacturing Company in St. Marys, Ohio, in 1957, Mr. Barks dale was sent there to install the Field crest cost system. In 1960, following the purchase of the present Karastan Spin ning Mill at Greenville, he set up the cost system there. In 1961, he was transferred to Au burn, N. Y., as the area cost supervisor for the Nye-Wait Rug Mill. He return ed to the General Offices at Eden in 1962 and assumed his present duties as an internal auditor. Mr. Barksdale was instrumental in developing the cost control manual used by the Fieldcrest Training Department and he has taught several cost control classes for supervisors. John S. Eggleston, office manager at the Blanket Warehouse, completed 40 years of continuous service in late June. He is a native of Eden and first joined the company June 24, 1929, in the Wind ing Department at the old Lily Mill. Shortly thereafter he was transferred to the Payroll Department at the Gen eral Offices and worked there for about JOHN S. EGGLESTON KATHLEEN S. HILL four years. He was transferred to order work in the Blanket Warehouse Office in 1933 and became office manager there in 1937. Mr. Eggleston was superintendent of the Blanket Warehouse 1955-1964 and since December, 1964, has been in his present position of office manager of the Blanket Warehouse. He has a son, John S. Eggleston, Jr., who is a mem ber of the Karastan sales organization. Kathleen S. Hill, chief order clerk at the Blanket Warehouse Office, reached 40 years of continuous service with the Company on July 8. A native of Danville, Va., Mrs. Hill began work as a picker in the old Silk Mill at Eden. She was a weaver 1938- 1944 and then worked as a yardage clerk until April, 1957. She next became an invoice auditor in the Blanket Ware house Order and Billing Department. She later worked a short time in the Packing Department as a clerk, and in March, 1958, returned to the Blanket Warehouse Office as a bill of lading Copyright, 1969, Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. Eden, N.
