Representative of the 102 students
given summer jobs by Fieldcrest is
Edward R. Taylor, shown on his job
as a cloth hauler in the Blanket Mill
Weave Room.
This is the second summer that Mr.
Taylor has worked at Fieldcrest and he
will use his earnings to help pay his
college expenses. A rising sophomore
at North Carolina State University, he
is majoring in industrial engineering
and hopes to join Fieldcrest upon grad
uation.
His father, Robert E. Taylor, is a tie-
in operator on the third shift in the
Blanket Mill Weave Room.
Fieldcrest Employs Over 100 For Summer
Giving as many summer jobs as possi
ble to college students and recent high
school graduates has been the policy of
the company for many years. As a re
sult, 102 students are holding summer
jobs at the Eden mills and offices this
year.
When hiring students for temporary
jobs, the company gives special consid
eration to the children of Fieldcrest
employees. Sixty-one of the 102 working
this summer have a parent or parents
employed by the company.
To be considered for employment, the
student must be available for the job
and shift required. If not, the job is
given to some other applicant regardless
of whether he or she is the child of a
Fieldcrest employee. And, generally,
there are more people wanting jobs than
there are jobs available.
